Animal group
The animal group consists of volunteers who know the animals well and have had training in animal care. They make – with the help of a permanent veterinarian – decisions about the care and welfare of all animals. They also think about purchasing new animals. Animals are never adopted spontaneously. All animals at De Buiktuin are allowed to grow old with us.
Party group
The party group coordinates the three annual parties that are held at De Buiktuin: the Easter egg hunt, the May party and the Animal Day party in October. They organise the lottery, the snacks and drinks, the flea market and the games for children. Sometimes there are extra activities such as a performance by a choir from the neighbourhood. The party group is supported by a large group of people during the preparations for each party and on the day itself. These can also be local residents who are not otherwise connected to De Buiktuin and only come to help occasionally.
Construction group
The construction group takes care of all large and small construction activities, except jobs that can be outsourced. Think of replacing roof parts, renewing an extension, painting, etc. Furthermore, the construction group arranges all repairs of fencing, hinges and locks, leaking taps, blocked drains and much more.
Management
The board currently has three members. Together – and where necessary together with the other members of the association – they make decisions about De Buiktuin. They also maintain contact with the municipality, arrange the finances, keep the website up to date and handle the mail. They make the work schedules, the holiday plans and the members’ magazine. Once a year there is a general members’ meeting and three times a year a staff meeting. The board meets every 6 weeks.
